Details:

Usually when I'm using a Classic receiver like this one, I will attach Bluetooth adaptor to it so can use wireless headphones and/or my phone send Spottily or any music service app back. There are a few scratches in the paint on top and right side. All of the inputs are working fine although I don't have a turntable currently set-up so could not properly test Phono input. The STR-S5 had a high-end amplifier design for Its time which incorporates DC coupling, Discrete Transistors and Sony's Legato Linear system.

For radio stations, there are Auto Tune Up and Down buttons to seek the next station. Each are used occasionally and when not in use they kept enclosed cabinets. This receiver is very well built with an all Aluminum Face plate, Fold down door and strip on top. Here are no significant scratches or marks on any of the Aluminum pieces Plastic windows.

Also, the headphone jack is not working. I've had quite a few vintage receivers over the years. Or a music streamer like the Wii Mini is even better. Its performing perfectly and has a big sound with clarity presence.

The only specs I could find were on the cover of Service Manual but strangely, they do not include power rating see photo. In addition to Bass Treble controls, It features Sony's Acoustic Balance Control which provides three Pre-set Equalization settings. However, I did use a very low-level output source to make sure sound came through the Phono inputs and it was good so expect play records just fine. I think this was rated at around 60 watts /Channel but if that is correct, it very conservatively.

The Down button is not working, Up works fine and there a manual tune knob behind the flip down door which. There is quite a bit of power available to crank it up if you like and easily drives the Old School Infinity Bookshelf speakers Boston Acoustic towers I connected. The FM tuner on this receiver is very impressive and performs better than most of the newer more expensive receivers I have or had. Sony STR-S5 Vintage Receiver, Rare 1982 model in Excellent Condition, Made Japan, this is one of Sony's first Receivers with Digital tuning.

If using wired headphones is important, I will see if a adaptor still available.
